Baby Showers Galore!!!!

We were fortunate to have 2 baby showers this week! The one Thursday was at Slate Creek (my school). We got lots of good stuff--the pack 'n play, a CD player, diapers, diaper bag, a caterpillar play mat...

Then Saturday afternoon the girls from church had a shower. My mom and sister, several friends, and many girls from church were there. It was wonderful!!! We played fun games (Joel provided funny answers...) and had great snacks.

Finally, I opened tons of presents!!! It is very humbling to have that many people buy you things just because they want to. We are very grateful to them. We have everything we need (and more!) for Baby Smith. We should be set on diapers and wipes for a while, although my mom did say those go quickly!

Goals 2007

We aren't really one's to have New Years resolutions because most of the time we don't stick to them. One thing we do like to do is to set some goals for the year and most of them end up having to do with finances or home repairs. We didn't really do any big home projects in 2006 and at this point we really don't have any big plans for this year. But we have set some financial goals for 2007 and would like to share them with you:

1. First and foremost pay off Joel's student loans, we have been working hard to pay off our student loans. In March of 2005 we had about $28,000 in loans between the two of us, ouch. Well, it is down to $4000, and our goal is a June payoff, it can't come soon enough.

2. Finish emergency fund. We would like to save 3-6 months of living expenses. So, our goal is to save about $6000 and we have about $5000 of that to go. We hope to achieve this by the end of the year.

3. Start college fund for baby billy. Not much more to say about that, but we want to get a head start, so we don't get behind.

For now that is all we have but as you can see we have a lot of work to do. We would love to hear your goals for 2007.

Peanut Buttery

I am home from work today. I had a vacation day to use before the end of this month or I would lose it. Yesterday at work I was reading the news headlines on the internet and I saw this story about peanut butter, so I thought I better read it. I'm sure you all known by now that Peter Pan has recalled some of its jars because of a salmonella outbreak. Of course we never buy Peter Pan peanut butter, but this week it just happened to be on sale and we love those sale items. I use peanut butter every day at work for a tasty sandwich. They said to check your jar to see if the lid had a product code starting with 2111. I checked mine and yep, 2111, and the same on our one at home. So, salmonella is probably slowly taking over my body. So, if any of us die including our unborn child you will know why.
I am really looking foward to the weather warming up. It looks like it may reach the 60's next week.

Girl's Weekend Picture

Well, here is the picture of our Girl's Weekend adventure! All 5 of us lived together in college in a mod. They are (almost) all living around here now--with the exception of Lori (in brown) and she lives in Guymon, Oklahoma. It was a full weekend of eating, shopping and talking. So much fun!!! Their names are Kara, Tina, me, Lori and Yvette.

Terrible

Is anyone else sick and tired of this weather. Cold, snow, and now rain with more snow coming tonight. It looks like it is finally going to get nice this weekend with temperatures in the upper 50's. This is the longest winter I can remember since being in Kansas. I am really looking foward to things picking up at work, winter is always slow and long. We have plenty to do but it is just so stinkin' wet. Hopefully next week we can start working outside again.
This shouldn't be a terribly busy week for us. Tonight I am helping a friend do her taxes, hopefully I don't screw her's up like I did ours last year (I will write about what I did sometime). Wednesday we have small group and are going to Coldstone and Starbucks, so it should pretty much dominate.
We have some good things to write so keep checking in.
